Living One’s Intrinsic Nature

Living one’s intrinsic nature. Intent. Life world within the greater world. Expressions.

You could say, I’ve taken this idea of “externalization” to a more logical level, a real possible reason . . .

Of course, these involvements sent me in various directions . . . a “layered reality” rather than a transformed reality . . .

I guess I had to take it a bit further to break on to the other side, so to speak.

There’s been a few explanations of the steps beyond this passive orientation and self, using intent.

From the perspectives of older books, lately, and all starting from the 70’s, for me:

“ . . . what the denizens of a few-dimensional zones call change is merely a function of their consciousness, which views the external world from various cosmic angles. As the Shapes produced by the cutting of a cone seem to vary with the angles of cutting–being, circle, ellipse, parabola or hyperbola according to the angle, yet without any change to the cone itself–so do the local aspects of an unchanged and endless reality seem to change with the cosmic angle of regarding. To this variety of angles of consciousness the feeble beings of the inner worlds are slaves, since with rare exceptions they cannot learn how to control them. Only a few students of forbidden things have gained inklings of this control, and have thereby conquered time and change. But the entities outside the Gates command all angles, and view the myriad parts of the cosmos in terms of fragmentary change-involving perspective, or of the changeless totality beyond perspective, in accordance with their will.

H. P. Lovecraft: “Through the Gates of the Silver Key”

Then from “The Art of Dreaming,” by Castenada, there was the ideas of dreaming gates. (Gates again, hey!) The first involved learning how to focus on an image, or object. A dream. The second brought in the idea of being able to refocus within the first, change it, start another dream. The third is where you are at the point where everything about you is involved, and you become self-functioning from another level, completely. Another you, basically.

For me, from what was available to me, like with Colin Wilson, I began thinking of intent, and figure/ground. This made it easy to see that other foci are possible; and the big realization for me was that we were involved within a larger reality, and the Ground, per se. It took me past the idea of the subconscious, and I realized we were selves entwined within an interactive field of meaning and knowledge. That got me moving. A Life World within the Greater World. Moving from the first to the second attention.

Intent is the core function of this other you. But from my perspective, it was also about enlarged perspectives and realities, enhanced meanings. Its about Meaning, the intrinsic realities. Not just power and ego! Saved. More viable directions.

It wasn’t just the average me, having symbols, that needed to be interpreted. It was an activation, an enhanced me: It stood on its own grounds. (So, who is this “me” that you are talking about?)

Most don’t have this idea, or experience, of these potentials . . . there’s only that idea of the singular self, who wants to be a bigger ego, or has shadows chasing it. Negative reinforcement.

Life, though, is much more interesting within this multifaceted arena: I’ve been becoming active in a lot of ways here, not just in response to your actions, like your externalized interpretations, and women only, etc. Knowledge and meaning is the motivation, not just belonging, self-esteem, and that is the way forward. A bit beyond most people’s needs. I find it fascinating.

Remember, I’m a psychology major; I know of all this stuff, and why I do it. I’m the one who had to peel this all out, and sort it out as a path.

Self-actualization through experiences of the enhanced Self.

So, moving past the “apparent,” passive mode, externalizations, and typical orientations, there is also our intrinsic nature, functioning through intent, that can deal with all of the possible multifaceted orientations. It is in touch with all of that, the many other parts of the jig saw puzzle, the bigger picture, per se, with its enhanced meanings and energy. It is at the core of these figure/grounds, functionally free. Its more than just a perception of the ordinary self; but unique activations of this intrinsic nature, the bigger picture, consciousness, expressing itself.

Our intrinsic nature . . .

Here’s some other stuff that I recently discovered. These explanations add a lot, taking it further into the more purposeful levels.

The Shape of Light – Hayakal al-Nur by Hazrat Shihabuddin Yahya al-Suhrawardi :

“Such a condition opens possibilities of perception not available to humanity in ordinary circumstances. Suhrawardi sees the image of Light by a particular mode of perception unlike the sensory experience, very much like the imagination.” (Page 21).

“A rational person knows that the things ordinarily imagined are unreal, nonfactual inventions of the mind. On the other hand we know that there are real yet invisible forces which express themselves in invisible shapes and phenomena. Man possesses the faculty of observing the cause, the reason, the essence, the finer reality of the coarse reality which the senses observe, as well as celestial realities which do not have their corresponding coarse worldly realities. In a way, the sensory reality has become a veil between us and the Real reality. True inner perception is not something derived from any outer perception, as is ordinary imagination, which simply reshuffles impressions and is as limited as the senses. Rather it is seeing the inner image directly through the inner eye, or basirah. As the coarse worldly image appears on the retina of the physical eye, the inner image is reflected on the pure mirror of the cleansed heart as a transparent spiritual form of light, and is imprinted on the soul itself. As the mortal body observes and feeds upon temporal things and experiences, the immortal soul sees and relates to the essence of things. This perception is the soul’s cognizance of itself.” (Page 21, 22).

“This work is called Hayakal al-nur, the shapes, the forms, the appearances, the edifices of Light. As the Greeks of old saw the stars as the material bodies of spiritual existences, these shapes of Light are the manifestation of the source of all light, the Sacred Light.” (Page 42).

The point is, these later considerations may have lead me into some unique experiences.

I had the inclination of examining myself, and as I aligned within myself, where my body should be, I felt 5 vortexes of swirling light and energy moving around. The next set was me putting down these meshes of wire on top of that, like a foundation for a floor. In the final set, next to me on the right, was this shimmering tower, like the Dubai Tower, reaching to the heavens. There was a pad, a balcony, shaped like an oyster , which I could of jumped on to. Moving from the misty to the clear and finished. A layered reality, or that and beyond.

(Addendum: It may have been the new Dubai Creek Tower, not built yet, that will have  these rotating balconies that stick out in that shape!)

In another set, I had someone emerging into my space, and saying something he noticed was interesting. I countered, if you thought was good, look at this, and I moved into a lighted space.

Energies within oneself . . . energy spaces . . . may the Force be with you!

“We live in the realm of perception, of our senses. Our material self is of this realm. This world of the senses is in contraposition to the world of Malakut-the spiritual kingdom of Allah-which comprises the invisible, the spiritual, incorporeal beings, and abstractions. The key to the wisdom of inner meaning is in the knowledge and ability to distinguish the material world from the spiritual world.” (Page 46).
